In The Midst Of Pain
By: C. Zach Hidalgo
December 31, 2000
In memory of:
David "Scott" Deere

Don’t let life pass you by where you’ll look back wondering what happened and how you missed out on everything while being there.

In the midst of pain, I hope you’ll take the time to look outside your situation and allow for a sound decision to be made based on good judgment.

Having suffered, I hope you stop and think about the times that counter your present circumstances.

Don’t be afraid to be weak because there will be times where you certainly are.

Don’t be afraid to be strong either, because you’ll need to draw from that strength many times through out life.

I hope you never settle for the path of least resistance, for quantity usually takes second place to quality in our brief walk through time.

I trust you’ll hope for a time when you can once again place a smile before laughter and swim in an ocean of joy.

May you have what many people worldwide do not have: The freedom to take life by the reins and ride off into the sunset.

I hope you still feel small when you stand before the awesome vastness of an incredible world around you.

Consider what you’ll be thinking as you turn your hundredth year on Earth as you're surrounded by your entire family and friends.

I hope you make the decision to seize the day while you still have it, and while you can still make something productive (or constructive) from what it has to offer.

Let the world around you sound its message of possibility for all creatures large and small.

Let the light of each day shine on your face a brand new message of hope with every step you take toward the future.

Allow for faith to distance you from those that plot to steal your dreams.

I hope you never lose the sense of wonder we can access at any time.

Pursue the love of family and friends with the understanding that it’s required from you first.

Living might mean taking chances, but it’s better to err trying than never trying at all.

Promise me that you’ll give yourself a chance. I think you’re worth it and I’m convinced there are others who agree.

As Time Ticks Away
I'm beggining to get that rat-race feeling again. I went to work today and did what I was supposed to do and realized after the fact that I did it wrong. I had to go to Cameron, AZ today (out in the middle of nowhere--I wonder where they get their water?). Anyway, I pulled all the product and loaded the truck for the largest client out there. After I got there I noticed there were two pages of product ordered...not just one, so their order was big-time incomplete. I felt like s#!+.

Not Passing The Buck
I told the manager I was the one who pulled the order and that it was all my fault. I also told her that I'd let her bear one of my children to make up for the mistake, but that didn't go over very well (Jus' playin', I didn't say that). No, I told her I would be going to the Grand Canyon tomorrow and that I'd take the long way around so I could get the product to her. She was pretty happy with that.

"Grand Canyon Looking North-East" November 2003

By The Way...

The image above is one of the cooler shots I've taken of the Grand Canyon, which I will be visiting once again tomorrow (Wednesday), assuming all goes as planned. I like this shot because of the foreground snow and light helps to break up the traditional Grand Canyon scene, ya know what I mean?

I Didn't Tell The Boss
When I got back from Cameron today, I cleaned my truck, loaded most of the stuff for tomorrow's run and clocked out. I didn't tell the boss cause I figure I can sneak all the product in the truck tomorrow morning and just take it all without anyone knowing. I hope that won't turn around and bite me where it counts, cause I like what counts just the way it is.

"Route 66 California Poppy" - Summer 2003

First Digital Camera

The photograph above was taken the first day I got my digital camera. That day I took off on my bike and rode down the world famous Route 66 taking pictures I thought would make a good shot. I rode past a field with a bunch of flowers and decided to take a bunch of shots using the "extreme close-up" feature.

"Route 66 Red Daisy" - Summer 2003

Catch Your Attention With This One

That red daisy above sure looks great along side the road and in that picture, heh? That red/yellow daisy is the one flower that prompted me to take pictures of flowers cause some flowers can sure create the brightest colors. In the future I'll present more of the flowers I've taken that just get all the attention of a screen, they're that bright and cool lookin'.

Sister-In-Law Is Back Online
Lisa is now online again, after about a year of not having access to the Internet. They have set up an account at home now and I just received my first email from them, out there in West Virginia.

"Jared, Lisa, Dayne and Chelsea" - 2002

I Miss That Part Of The Family

It's been a while since I saw Lisa and the kids. The last time I saw Dayne and Jared was back in late 1997 or early 1998. Chelsea was just born, Jared was about 2 years old and Dayne was 4 or 5 years old. I left cause I had to transfer to Northern Arizona University from West Virginia University because it was just too expensive for me (non-resident). Look at them now, they're much bigger, and that was a few years ago!

"Uncle Tommy's Place" - West Virginia 1997

Boy Do I Miss That Place!

The image above is taken from Lisa's mother's place looking toward her uncle Tommy's house one fall day. Me, Craig and Jimmy went hunting in the woods just to the left of the house there one early morning. I didn't last long that trip cause I had the runs that morning and ticked off Jimmy cause I couldn't stand still. I don't blame him, I was a nightmare for a hunter that morning.

"Jarod Sears and Gabe Wright" - Circa 1996

A Call From Kansas City

Jarod Sears finally called me last night from Kansas City, MO on Sunday night. I haven't spoken to him since he left Cornville, AZ for Kansas City, MO last November. He was sure in a bad place back then. He was really fighting physical problems, some other problems and was on the virge (sp?) of crumbling.

Better Off Now
Jarod's voice Sunday night projected confidence, better health and a happiness I don't think I'd ever heard before from Jarod. It was realy cool to hear him in that state. I'm really glad he's doing better now and in a much better place (in life, because I'm not so sure Kansas City is a place he'd choose to stay).

"Jarod Sears Eatin' Shiat" - Cottonwood, AZ 2000

Jarod's Back On His Feet

This shot (above) is Jarod doing one of the things he loves best, although this particular picture doesn't really exemplify his best...hehehe :) I love this picture cause Jarod looks so pissed at me taking a shot of him down.

Jarod, we all know you skate well, I just had to take a picture of a rare scene for posterity, that's all--yeah, that's it. :)

Anyway, I thought this picture was somewhat appropriate to the situation because this picture represented him before, and now he's back on his feet. I hope the best for you Jarod! I also miss havin' you around to hang out with (he used to be a roommate).
