Random Thought: I don't understand how some people can be such monsters
Random Trivia: Did you know that actual pirates used to cut off peoples ears if they didn't listen to their stories, would shoot at people if they didn't drink with them and would cut out people's hearts and try to get the dying to eat their own heart? Now that I think about it, how different is that from such a monster as Jeffrey Dahmer? Hmmmm.

I Can't Wait For Monsoons
There's one thing about Arizona that I really like; monsoons. If you've ever had the experience of watching monsoons take over an area, you know what I'm talking about. The sky gets really dark and spooky. The wind blows back and forth, lightning strikes several times and rain falls hard and loud. It's an awe inspiring site and experience.

"Flagstaff Monsoon At NAU - 1999"

Above:
This picture was taken just before the dark sky let loose it's fury over the San Francisco Peaks here in Flagstaff, AZ. I was riding my bike through Northern Arizona University and had to stop and take this picture, which I have to say is one of the best storm pictures I've ever taken.

Some Are Better Than Others
Some monsoons are obviously more fierce than others and the image below is just one example of a monsoon that was not as rough as the monsoon in the previous image. The Aspen, green grass and Blue Spruce in the foreground add a unique sunny/dark perspetive to the the photo.

"A Day At The Park"

Two Pictures In One

This picture is definitely made better with what I will call a "picturesque foreground." The area of the park I was in originally when I decided to take a picture didn't lend itself to a good photograph because of the "obstructions" in the foreground. So, I walked around and found a good scene to present the scene I wanted to highlight in the middle--the peaks made dark because of monsoons moving into the area. I always try to practice what my photography instructor said was the most critical/important thing in photography, and that is "A Good Eye."

Media Change: Now watching "A Study Of International Airports."

Random Trivia: Did you know that the Tom Bradley International Airport in Los Angeles has a larger economy unto itself than New Zealand, Singapore or Ireland?

Thank You Spidey (Brian Yoskovich)!
Spidey was gracious enough to take care of a problem I've had with my car. The muffler literally fell off because the binding unit--that which holds the muffler in place--broke. He took it to a friend's work and fixed it for me. Here I thought it would cost me several hundred dollars, but the muffler and all required parts cost under $30.

Symbiotics

I'm most grateful to Brian and will sneak him some cash for his services, whether he likes it or not. It's nice having a friend who's been bit by the "mechanic bug" and is willing to help his friends out. I save his ass when his computer goes down and he helps me when my car rebels. A symbiotic relationship without the biology.

Random Trivia: Encore info - Did you know that Arizona is the only state in the United States Of America that does not recognize Daylight Savings Time? As a result, Arizona experiences great differences in sunrise and sunset times between winter and summer. It's actually really cool to see nature happen the way it's supposed to and not altered by selfish human desires.

Show & Tell
Just thought I'd share a couple images from the past of sunrises I've taken. I usually have to wake up at 4, 5 or 6 a.m. to be at work early, but my schedule has changed for this week and I don't have to be in until 9 a.m. today. But of course because I'm so used to waking up before the sunrise, when I see the sun's already out through my windows while I'm asleep, I wake up freaking out thinking I'm late for work.

After such a traumatic waking moment, it's difficult to get back to sleep, so here I am, two hours before I have to be at work riddlin' around the Internet. Lucky you, heh?

"Flagstaff Sunrise" - Winter 2003-04

Above:
The image above was taken about 6 a.m. from Peak Produce looking East (toward the sunrise) in Flagstaff, AZ. It was the middle of winter so the sun was rising later in the day.

No Daylight Savings Time
As stated above in the "Random Trivia" section, Arizona is the only state in the union that does not recognize daylight savings time. Although there are a couple states that have small sections of the state that does not recognize it either, Arizona is the only entire state that boasts such a claim.

What A Difference!
I never really noticed much of a difference daylight savings time made while I lived in other states until I moved to Arizona (to be with my mom due to failing health). Wow! I'm also glad I don't have to be concerned about changing the clock back and forth twice a year or waking up an hour early or late. The rest of you are just suckers and pawns...hahaha! :)

Get a load of the picture below, you'll never believe it.

"Not A 'Black-&-White'" - Winter 2003-04 Sunrise

Believe It Or Not

Yes it's true, the image of the Flagstaff, AZ sunrise above IS NOT a black and white photograph. That's how interesting the sky was that morning while driving to Prescott, AZ to make deliveries for work.

Eye In The Sky
One interesting thing about this image is that the clouds make a shape similar to an eye in the sky. That's why I originally stopped to take the picture but realized later that another interesting fact was that the picture almost looks black-and-white and not color.

"Flagstaff Eye" - Circa 1998

Someone's Watching You
Above:
This picture was taken over the sky's as we were headed to Flagstaff, AZ from Cornville, AZ. I happened to have my Pentax K1000 with me and had to snap up this shot cause it was so unusual. You'll have to agree that the clouds in the sky for what appears to be an eagle's eye, NO?

Anyway, I think it looks like that. It's my website so I get to make the rules. :) It's getting late and I still have to eat breakfast and get ready to go to Cameron, AZ for work.
